Fernwood Albury Wodonga Hockey 8s Tournament

The Newmarket Hotel hosted a very successful Launch Night on Tuesday 2 October with over 120 people in attendance.

The eight teams were announced together with coaches and managers.

The highlight of the night was the drawing of the Naming Rights Raffle which was won by Fernwood Albury Wodonga. Congratulations to Fernwood.

The Committee would like to thank the 50 or so local businesses that bought tickets in this raffle. Your support is very much appreciated.

Launch Night

All teams have now been selected and players who have nominated are required to attend the Launch Night on Tuesday 2 October at The Newmarket Hotel, East Albury starting at 7:30 pm.

During the evening you will find out which franchise you will be playing for and who your team mates are.

After the draw for the Naming Rights Sponsor, about 9:00 pm, there will be a team meeting with your coach to arrange training and your uniform sizes. Training will be after the start of daylight savings.

Please feel free to bring along family and friends and take advantage of the Pot and Parmi available at the bar or enjoy a bistro meal before the evening commences.

We are delighted to welcome Cosgraves Property Valuers and EDC as team sponsors for the tournament.

We now have sponsors for seven teams. We only need one more to meet our target.

Four Sponsors for Hockey 8s

Hockey 8s to be played on Friday 19 and 26 October 2012 under lights at the Albury Hockey Centre.

We can now confirm the following four businesses have agreed to be team sponsors:

Hume Building Society

Health and Fitness Plus

Johnsons MME

Zen Home Energy

Hopefully we we will have more sponsors ready to sign up in the next week. We also have a commitment from the Border Mail and WIN TV to give the event support through their media.

70 Players have nominated to date and we are looking for another 25 men and 25 women to make up our teams.

You can nominate two ways - the easiest way by going to the Hockey 8s webpage and clicking on 'Nominate' and completing the electronic form or you can complete a form available at the Albury Hockey Centre Canteen - ask Vicki for a form.

This will be a fun event with interaction between players over 15 years of age of all playing strengths from different clubs.

The teams will be selected by the coaches in the week after our grand final day. All players selected will be advised by email and invited to attend a launch function to be held in early October where they will be told which team they are playing in and who their teammates will be.

If you wish to participate in what will be a unique event for our sport, while supporting a local charity and junior hockey development, now is the time to nominate before teams fill up.
